Question for Europeans: do you change Excel’s settings so that numbers are written your format? Instead of 1,000.00 it is 1.000,00? If so, how do you work with American colleagues? Indeed, how do you work cross-border within Europe? Don’t the Swiss do like 1’000.00 and the French 1 000,00 ? Seems like it could be the source of potential error / mistakes.

Same also goes for other grammar like using “~” for approximate versus “c.” for circa.

Fast forward to the final quarter of the year and we were presented with the idea of a residential assisted living facility. Is there any advice for networking into projects when you don’t know many people at the firm yet? I always to help on BD work when I’m on the bench, but it never turns into any billable work. Every time I have talked to a partner/senior manager I was told I don’t have the skill set they’re looking for, but I don’t know how to build up from there. Feeing very lost but I want to improve my approach.

What’s the expectation after mentioning a base pay range? Does one need to provide justification if they are negotiating for the top end of the range?
