Do any of the top consulting firms have analytics roles (preferably not super technical) that don’t require weekly travel?
Dilemma - To travel or not to travel. That is the question. Delta surge. Is it a good time to look for remote or 50% travel opportunities? What’s your take?
Do you expense in flight wifi?
Need some advice. I take home roughly 4k/month after taxes and IRA contributions (6% 401k and 3% Roth). My rent is around 900 and I usually spend 300-400 on my credit card. Cont...
Ex-bf posted on social media to say he was so turned on thinking about new gf during an international flight that he went to the restroom so he could [ahem ahem], then he used the resulting “fluids” to draw a heart on the bathroom mirror. HE DREW IT WITH HIS STUFF. Important context: he’s 33 freaking years old, has PhD, and we broke up partly because he couldn’t express affection. So, this is… evidence of personal growth?!🥴 I can’t even be jealous because I’m just so like wtf, 🤮🙄🤦♀️!
Q for the people that like WFH and never want to go back - what is your living situation? I hate WFH and can’t wait to be back in the office, so curious if other people have adapted better or if their environments are just more conducive to being successful (house with home office and family vs being alone in a 1BR apartment).
Book recommendations threads! Include title with a brief summary: ‘The Philosopher and the Wolf’ by Mark Rowlands. A book about connections beyond humans. Not just with animals, but the world. He does a phenomenal job of wrapping philosophical thoughts and theories into every day life. Highly recommend for those who love the outdoors, have a dog, or want a new outlook on life.
Recommendations for psychology books that cover a number of ‘high-level’ topics? I’d like to learn more about human behavior- why people make the decisions they do, why drives purchases, addictions, etc. -not looking for in-depth science heavy reaources
Any (light) book recommendations to read- non fictional, not self-help. Psychology, abstract, biography, science, human evolution, how our mind works, etc..
Ok fishbowl family - I need advice. Rising senior 1 here and realizing that I genuinely get no joy out of audit. I’m way too stressed and really do not care about accounting and have made it a life goal to never book a journal entry. I want to take the next year to figure out what my dream job is and go for it. Here’s what I like: I love talking to people, mentoring & teaching, organizing, learning. I literally loved everything in college- I was between majoring in accounting or psychology. 1/X
I’m interested real estate investing (buying my first house this year) and would like to learn more. Does anyone have book recommendations? I can’t decide between flipping or rental income properties but also need to just learn about the whole home buying process.
Has anyone filed a NIE and got it approved for their parents? I just had a baby and my parents are in India .. had to cancel their trip due to the travel ban
All I want to do is curl up in bed with hot tea and a good book. Recommendations for if I ever achieve said dream?
General musing - it seems like the vast majority of recs in here are for super expensive hotels and resorts (St Regis, etc). I work in consulting and make good money but can’t fathom spending $600+ a night on a hotel. Am I really in the minority or is it just that ppl staying at the Ritz want to show off?
Shifting back to India soon for personal reasons to work in a startup - any major differences between the work culture in India vs in US that I should be aware of?
Best office chair? And other WFH splurges. Looks like we’ll be stuck working from home for a while. What are some worthwhile splurges to make WFH more enjoyable?
Hi, I am completely new to the Green Card process and was wondering if anyone here can help me understand the entire process (step by step till we get our I140)/suggest any website/video which explains the same thing? PwC has just collected my docs and I’m on H-1b at the moment.
Anyone know if US consulates are taking appointments in Canada and Mexico for h1b stamping?
Hi all! So I made the switch to industry 8 weeks ago and took on a completely new role (I’ve got about 6.5 YOE.)I love the org and my new supervisor, however I got paired with a colleague who has made it clear she doesn’t enjoy working with me and has serious issues with my working style. She’s a very senior and experienced person so feels bad that she thinks so negatively of me already. I want to improve, but it will take some time as I’m still relatively new. (Cont)
Considering applying to KKR capstone, any idea what TC looks like for associates? Base is ~150k according to H1b site
Hi, Consulting Moms! I need advice - I am leaving industry to return to consulting. I have offers from KPMG and Deloitte, and we are looking to start a family ASAP (we have been actively trying and I have a feeling it would be just my luck to start a new job and find out I’m pregnant). Would love your insight around personal experience with hours per week, work-life balance, culture, etc. Offers are same level/role/scope (Change Management / Transformation / Human Capital) and same salary. TY!
I have a huge crush on an recently-hired intern. I’m married and twice as old. I would never act on it. But.... swoon
It really bothers me that I'll never have the confidence men do, and I think this will impact my career. Things like self-promotion to the right people, being highly confident in my abilities (rather than focusing on risks and mitigations), and just naturally walking into every room like I belong. I know these are not only qualities of men and I can develop them too. I'm just frustrated & venting because it feels like I'm trying so hard just to achieve the same goals. Anyone relate? Any wisdom?
Deloitte — starting tomorrow and haven’t been granted access to the Dashboard. When could I expect to get paid? Also, I have a signing bonus that should come with my first check. Thanks in advance! 🤗
This question is on behalf of my friend: Her current package is 2.5lpa from a small company (3yrs exp java spring boot) . She got offer from Accenture of 6lpa (fixed) . After this she had interview with cognizant and asked for package of 7 lpa. When she recieved the offer from cognizant it was of 10lpa fixed. Most interesting part after 2 weeks she got revised offer letter from cogni without any discussion of 16lpa with 1L joining bonus. How can we analyse and suggest her regarding offer.
Is a six sigma certification worth mentioning in my resume if I’m applying for strategy consulting roles? Or is it just a waste of space?
Please help. I was laid off this past week. I am international and my OPT is coming to an end very soon. I had a call with an immigration lawyer and Deloitte unfortunately does not offers additional support for immigrants aside from said call. I am in need of a job ASAP. I have until July 24th to find a job or I will have to start a new educational program or leave the US. Leaving the US is personally not a viable option. Skills: AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certified, Power BI (cont.)
I’m a second year BTA up for promotion to C this year. What roles/positions should I apply for? Hoping for possible $100K-110 pay. Mostly do functional and PMO work with CS background
Advice needed! Have just been asked to Freelance with W2 form. Without any benefits. Is this even possible? Would I lose my eligibility for Unemployment insurance once the gig ends? I was laid off from my full time agency job 2 months ago and have already freelanced as self employed on an LLC since. Seems like they’re being tight and taking advantage of the current climate.
Has anyone transitioned into product management? I would love to hear your story! I have 8 years experience in project management but I don’t know how to pivot. I don’t think I want to pivot internally because I’ve heard negative things about our product management teams. I’ve been thinking about moving into project management at a SaaS company but that is proving to be hard since I have no SaaS experience. Would love to hear anyone experience on moving into product management.
