Is this different than prison purses?
Function first professional purses still work

Let's call it what it is - a purse. They're the Cyber Truck of male fashion.
I had a passport bag that borders on purse material but I love it. Cross body bag that I wear to the airport - then I just keep my laptop in my suitcase and pull it out when needed. It has helped me a lot get through security more quickly and not have to carry around a backpack
Just as bad for your spine as a regular purse I'd imagine. Give yourself scoliosis carrying your work stuff in there. Just get a good, well supported backpack.
Yes, yes, well spotted, AC1, that was indeed hyperbole. Carrying uneven heavy loads like a large purse can cause severe pain in your neck, shoulders and back though, so the point remains.
I (mid 50s man) saw a colleague (60s man) sporting one ~10yrs ago. After the obligatory razzing he explained that it held ONLY the essentials because 40 years of lugging a heavy bag had taken a toll.
His was also custom made & looked really sharp. Within a week I found a nice bag that’d fit my laptop, notebook, a couple small file folders & not much else (can stuff in a power supply in a pinch).
That bag gets more positive compliments than any tie or suit ever… and I don’t lug a ton of crap (which has gotten even easier with online storage of nearly everything).
Just do it.

It’s cyclical. 10-15 years ago we called it a Jack Bauer bag or Go-2-War Bag.
The only “man bag” I will EDC is a large duffel that can actually fit an entire man in it.
Depends entirely on the bag and function. If it’s some POS monogrammed nonsense from [insert luxury brand] then it looks stupid and you should feel stupid. Alternatively, if you carry a bag it should be functional and effectively used because that’s the whole point. If you’re wearing a murse to carry a chapstick, lotion, and wallet - you’re kind of a cornball
But also you can just do what you want
PS- The only acceptable man bags are the ones attached to your pants called pockets. If you need more, get a backpack or brief
D1- you are describing a travel bag that is a necessity. Man bags are primarily used for everyday use.
I have a girlfriend with a purse for every day use and when I’m feeling super risky, cargo pants…but unless I’m traveling, I only need my key and my wallet.

Here’s one of my homeboys, former SOF Veteran Tu Lam talking about his man bag. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7IfvRArr8b/?hl=en

Change his toolkit with your toolkit. For example, we probably won’t be bringing a P365 and TQs into our meetings but we have a need for other tools - laptops, power cables, etc. His explanation of the bag being a great additional storage option is still relevant. Sometimes I would much rather bring a backpack to a meeting but the CxOs I’m meeting are not carrying backpacks so I have to switch to a briefcase style bag.
I understand functional bags for work, travel or leisure. Would buy a high in man bag that is more of a “status symbol”? For example, a Hermes bag
🤢 no.
