As an Asian woman in my 30s, I ditched the societal expectations to have fantastic career, be married, and popping babies. Quit my job and went to travel instead 😂
Lmao you’re cute 😂😂😂
Eff it. I’m wearing white after Labor Day.
@OP
1. How old are you?
2. If you’re still young, you have plenty of time to change what life looks like for you.
3. In my view a large part of your early life (18-30) is spent making sure you are well positioned for the next 50-70 years.
3b. College degrees and prestige jobs increase debt and cost time/effort, but they maximize options once they’re complete. This doesn’t mean you should ignore fun and experiences in this window, but it does mean that you may have to amortize the costs and benefits over a lifespan to see the true value you gain/lose.
I agree on the general sentiment but there are things I am grateful for about societal norms. So what norms in particular?
“Emphasis on money”. You must be American. You should maybe check out Europe as a place to life. You’ll make less money, but its core values will likely be more in line with yours
What norms specifically??
Like no smoking at work?
What would you have done differently when you were in high school? And why do you think you can’t still make that change now?
That’s the thing. I grew up with not much and raged/had many life experiences in my 20s. For those reasons, I appreciate societal norms and a blueprint for anyone who wants it. Definitely go live a life you want, but there’s a point where the life you want doesn’t differ much from societal norms.
Except for that family that raised that one girl around wolves. That’s pretty sick.
