Seeing the news about Meta possibly cutting 20% of its workforce while pouring huge money into AI just feels ridiculous. I get companies chasing efficiency, but at some point it starts sounding like people are the easiest line item to erase when leadership wants to make the numbers work. How is that not backwards? Feels like workers keep paying for decisions they never got a say in.

It feels like a huge slap in the face, doesn't it? There are already so many people who have been laid off and can't find jobs. It definitely sounds backwards to me.

Exactly. That’s what makes it hit so wrong. It’s not just the layoffs by themselves, it’s the fact that so many people are already struggling to land somewhere new and companies still act like cutting people is the cleanest solution every time. It really does feel backwards.

The fact that they are pouring so much money into AI is why they have to lay off people. They have to cut cost for their AI investments and they employees are the collateral.

My manager basically gave me an unlimited budget to get whatever certifications I want. My career profile is similar to a Solution Architect- what should I get? I am thinking about Okta (I do some SAML work), Domo, ITIL, Six Sigma, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Six Sigma, anything else? I have AWS Cloud Practitioner already.
