I’ve been in that spot before, where I was interested in someone I worked with, and for a minute, dating them seemed like it could work. But then I started thinking about all the complications that could come with it. It’s already tricky navigating relationships with staff and adding a romantic element to the mix can make things even more complicated, even if you're not working directly together. If you both can really keep things separate, that definitely helps. But I’d still think about how you’d handle any issues that come up if the relationship starts affecting your work life.

Is say go for it. Love is important, and everyone deserves the opportunity to be happy
I work in a very small district - there are a lot of teachers and staff members that are married to each other! I think it depends on the culture of your school and district. The first district I worked in made a point during orientation to point out that dating staff members was strongly advised against and I never heard of people openly seeing each other, but in my current district (where everyone’s married lol) no one has ever mentioned that being frowned upon.
You know yourself - could you keep it professional and private at school?? It sounds like you could!! Would it be awkward if things ended poorly?? Think a little before you jump in just to make sure you’d be okay with any potential scenario!
I've known it to happen, and I've heard of marriages that resulted from that scenario. I guess it depends on whether the school district has any rules about it. It's probably best to keep things quiet. And you should perhaps put some thought into what it would be like if things got rocky and you eventually broke up. But if there doesn't seem to be any real reason against it, just see how things develop. You have to believe that good things can happen.

The only thing that would concern me is the thought of dealing with potential breakups and emotions that result.
Nope. Love is more important.

I think the chance for love and a happy relationship is worth the risk. Of course I've been married for 38 years to my husband, so I think love is a chance worth taking.
Go out and enjoy yourself. You never know how it will turn out!
It’s a date, not a contractual obligation. Take the risk.
