So, I recently dusted off my resume and added a few more details, updated my skills, and added my certifications. I added it to a few job boards and set some filters to reflect my preferences, then waited for notifications.

Is it me or is there something out there that disregards the preferences and just starts throwing curve balls? An example - I worked in claims and I'm getting notices saying that I would make a great sales representative.

Career advice?

I'm a relatively junior data engineer (2yoe), the only other engineer (senior) that trained me left about a 6 months ago and I negotiated a nice raise for the extra responsibilities.

My performance reviews have been stellar, but my manager is starting to look to hire a senior to help me deliver projects as we do lack capacity right now.

I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to ask for a promotion and hire a junior instead.

Any opinions/tips?
