Is it true that there’s a lot of 2-4 year lateraling in January?

Would recommend starting your search now if you’re planning on a early 2023 move. Lots of those January moves you see have been planned for a while

On the firm side it’s not by design, but things come up and the firm won’t want to guarantee a bonus this late in the year.

I’m a 3rd year and def lateraling in 2023.

I have certain firms in mind that I know are hiring, but I’ve got serious life changes happening that kind of take precedence so I’m not ready to focus on making a move just yet.

Doubt it

There’s always a January shuffle, offers received and accepted waiting for bonus to clear before resigning. Doesn’t look to me like there’s more than usual.

Do you find that you have little patience for texting on the dating apps? I find myself trading texts for a couple of days and then ready to either talk, meet or move on. Little interest in providing daily updates to a stranger or keeping up with a chat box within an app on my phone. Wondering if I need to be more patient.

We have a deliverable due on Friday with alot of things to get done before then and seems like no one cares? I ask for status updates and all I get is no, haven't done that, will do it now. Sure enough, ask next day and the response is no, haven't done it yet.

These folks are seniors as well. Partner looks to me to provide a status update, and all I can say is in process.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but I have a few former classmates and colleagues sweating over lateral interviews. Take a deep breath and relax.

First, doing these interviews does not define you as a person.

Second, take it one day at a time; if they are moving forward, they see something in you.

Third, remember that the people interviewing you are human beings. Connect with them, be personable.

How would you ask to transfer to another office within your firm?

I lateraled from one firm in city A to another firm city B. During the interview process, I made a big deal about how I badly I wanted to be in B, despite only being barred in A. They hired me, paid for my bar courses, the works.

Now I find myself in a position where I need to leave B due to personal issues. Thinking of going to DCso I can just waive in.
