Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?
Personally if this is a first interview with someone in a potential employer that you have never spoken to before then I feel it is unacceptable- unless that was the expectation set before the call . Employment is a two way process : you sell yourself and the company does the same . In a market where there are skill shortages and the fight for talent is competitive , the interviewer is not giving their company best chance of success with this approach . I would have been tempted to take control of the interview and ask for the call to be rescheduled at a time when the interviewer has sorted out their technical issues.
As a follow up to the above, creating an exceptional candidate experience is critical to building a positive company brand. These two behaviours should raise flags that should prompt you to explore further the way these firms communicate and work with their employees should you decide to progress - good luck !
