Hang in there, because you are so concerned it is why you are very valuable, their lost , not your ! Time is coming for you, you will find your niche, and when you do, you will be very happy! My Best of Luck '
It’s a us thing. Most companies want 2 years experience minimum for an entry level position. Unfortunately you’ll have to keep digging. Some places will take a closer look at you if you put them down as a referral
I agree with the one’s saying it’s a U.S. thing.
I broke down and wanted to apply for a dishwashing position and they told me I needed three years experience to be a dishwasher, and buss some tables at a diner, and then wash the dishes. I needed three years experience to be hired on with them to do that?!?!?good grief.
Rising Star
It’s a US thing, but I think especially so in big cities. The way I broke through is by taking an entry level job just to get the experience. You’ve just gotta keep going until someone is willing to give you a chance
Go to a restaurant like most 19 year olds I was in them at like 16 Florida sucks too but if you are actively out in people's faces, you'll get a job. Just go apply as a hostess at some place out there and tell them you want to get your foot in the door, you're a people person with excellent decision making and are good under pressure, then once you've been in for a couple months and get the ropes, ask to serve? If you can if they don't sell alcohol..
Have you tried any other supermarkets?
This is a global thing, though the US has probably been hit the hardest. So many people with experience are unemployed and looking for work, so employers don't feel the need to take that tiny risk on someone new to the workforce. You have to keep applying. Go into stores with your resume and talk to managers if you can.
I have years of experience over 9 years and I get told my experience is expired, or when they ask what I’m looking for as far as pay I drop a number and they run. We’re in a world where they want all this experience with not paying for it. They will say what they want to not have to pay you what your worth either.
