Ricciardo screwed up leaving RB, he has found no form ever since.. Could have been such a combination with Max and Danny.
Forreal! Poor Cyril, got a tattoo for the guy and everything. He was ready to build the team around Dan
🤣
Totally Alex, I can't wait for him to be on the sidelines post career, he would make a great host!!!
Well. It's all speculation at this point. What looks definite at this point is Piastri in and Ricciardo out.
I agree. Who knows where this will go. Ricciardo’s contract is iron clad but it’s just a piece of paper that green bills will solve. He can enact a get out clause, which (from what I’ve heard so not saying it’s true) - may be a strategy where Zak would create such an undesirable team environment that is potentially damaging for Daniel both short and long term pushing him out. I think the latter is unlikely, money will talk as the sport moves too fast for those nefarious strategies to be effective. So to be continued….
Don’t know why AR would give up Zhou, he’s proven himself
Plus Zak Brown has technically 3 more US driver’s signed to one of his race teams: Holta, Palou (tbd - potentially McLaren’s 2nd lawsuit) and O’Ward
No disagreement here, thanks for making that clear - I was taking liberty by saying “US Drivers” to abbreviate my comment after having reached the limit on the original post, but I understand the important distinction which I should have correctly stated instead as “popular in the US”.
Back to my point though, with Palou the reigning IndyCar champion, he naturally draws the America eye - something McLaren are desperate to do - and he’s driven for them in the past back in 2019. As for O’Ward, yes, he is indeed from Mexico (which is part of North America), but has a large following in both Mexico and US-based Hispanic communities in the US. In New York I see F1 fans who most commonly are adorning Red Bull merchandise as they follow Sergio Perez.
Nationalities to one side, any IndyCar driver who is popular in the US - New Zealander Scott Dixon for example - will undoubtedly add to the new contingent of fans from North America the sport and McLaren are desperate to tap into.
Haas mag and ric. Come on baby
I would be thrilled. Would give me a reason to root for Haas.
I get the sense that Ocon is not very popular amongst the drivers..
Congratulations Alex. Considering the direction in which you’re moving , hope to see you in F2 soon.

Per the Race podcast, essentially what there Piastri issue might boil down to:
- Piastri's contract might have stated that if he didn't have an F1 race drive (team not specified) by July 31, he was free to look elsewhere
- Alpine had an agreement to get him in at Williams (strength of this agreement, written or verbal, unknown)
- for Alpine, this Williams seat fulfilled the contract and meant that he was not free to look elsewhere, therefore, they were free to switch him back on August 2
- obviously Piastri would have wanted to be with a team higher up the grid, therefore was in talks with McLaren too. From his point of view, either because the agreement with Williams was not signed or because the race seat was not with Alpine, his camp's interpretation of the contract with Alpine is that he was free. Look elsewhere
- looks like this is going to court to be resolved

Other comment they made is that it's possible Ricciardo it's not only not a match for the McLaren, but also not a match for the 2022 rule set, which would make it risky for Alpine to bring him in.
