Get to know what the full race schedule is, not just F1. There are a lot of great support races to watch as well. Believe you'll see f3 in France. Start to follow the f3 Instagram and get to know some of the drivers so that you have a stake in the race. I'm personally rooting for Logan Sergeant (American, did well last year but had difficulty finding a seat with a good team this year. Is racing with a not as good team, but seems to be pushing them) and JM Corea (who is coming back from the massive f2 accident in 2019). It's also good to download a spotter's guide for this category as well.
Bring ear plugs, more for this support categories then for F1.
A lot of the European tracks are in the middle of the countryside, and aren't really designed for a large volume of people going in and out (like you might find for stadiums in the US). The result can be a lot of traffic. Allow extra time to get there and leave.
Get to know the full schedule for weekend at the track. Sometimes they allow spectators onto the track and you can do a track walk.

Also, it can be tough to follow the race in person. Make sure you have the F1 app, the live timing feature is brilliant both in terms of understanding the race, and also having the audio feed from the radio broadcast.
They'll likely announce the F1 race in French and English, support categories may only be in French. If your bilingual, it helps.
The one race I attended was the Canadian GP in Montreal, and the entire city was converted into a party zone for the race. Hopefully you’ll get to experience that in France as well!
