Sometimes the best next step isn’t a promotion—it’s a new horizon. I spent years building skills, solving problems, and growing deep roots. Then I chose to explore—to learn from new cultures, chase connection, and stretch beyond routine. If you feel ready, don’t fear change. It’s not leaving—it’s evolving.

I am a new associate currently watching a named partner “quiet fire” but not so quiet a paralegal. He has been really nasty to her, demoralizing, degrading and any other word that fits. And I’m struggling to not speak up because I feel so conflicted. I don’t want to make things worse for her but do want him to know I see how he’s treating her.

I’m already trying to leave but the market isn’t the best. But I struggle still working at the firm after seeing this. (Below)

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!
