This is a tough one. I've often considered moving on to a new role, but it would mean finding one's feet and learning the ropes all over again. If you have the appetite for that, and the salary hike is a good one, you might consider taking the risk. A good boss who you like and trust is hard to find, but what if that individual moves on at some point....
I left a great boss for money once. The new exec was a nightmare and I regretted it almost immediately. But I also know people who stayed too long out of loyalty and ended up stuck or getting let go all the same. There's no right answer here, so I'd say do whatever your gut tells you. What's your first reaction when you ask yourself the question: stay or go? That's your answer.
Very tough; following
I believe enough of it depends on how much of a salary bump is it. What dynamics are in the new role that are appealing? I say go for it. Life is way too short.
Don’t forget that you’re interviewing them as well. Part of the interview process should be directly with the person you’ll be supporting, if not ask for it. Consider and research questions and scenarios that will help determine if they’re likely good fit for you. If you’re comfortable in your current position at the moment, you can afford to set high standards.
