I received something from my EA manager and my Partners got me flowers. Most humbling part were several emails from a few consultants thanking me and one of them got surprised me with a gorgeous bottle of Moët. 🍾
The other admin and I got each other flowers in anticipation of getting nothing from our office 🤷🏻♀️
We correctly predicted nothing. Haha
My old company went all out, gift card, flowers, nice chocolate and a lunch out. I’m now in charge of planning for my new team and funds are limited so I’m doing flowers, nice lunch ordered in and a personal note from the CEO.
Oh yes! Our EA manager sent us cookies and ice cream from TIFF’s Treats and pretty vases of flowers. The local Partners gave us each a dozen white roses and Amazon gift cards. One of my remote Partners sent me an Amazon gift card and some cute socks in a theme she knows I like. Feeling very appreciated!
Sorry to hear that!! OW is the first place I’ve worked where support professionals in general and EAs in particular are really valued as contributors. It’s very motivating. Firm culture here is terrific
We do things for our client EAs, our management team does a cute lunch/game/treat/gift thing. Partners are hit or miss.
Our office does gift cards, a nice lunch & outing each year for the EAs. Last year it was an Escape room. This year was a mini Art Institute tour. They also host a lunch this week to celebrate all administrative teams in the office. In terms of individual partner aknowledgement, its about a 30/70 split. Some are consistent gift-givers/appreciators, others not so much.
We get nothing. My current manager doesn’t acknowledge Christmas, EAs Day, birthdays. My old manager was very generous, my current is not. My teammates acknowledged my birthday this year (it was a big one) and our group of admins acknowledged each other, but management does nothing.
Our office manager every year sends a note to the partner group reminding them of admin appreciation day, and how much easier their lives are because of us, and if they need help ordering flowers or gifts that he’s happy to help. Very pointed, but usually everyone is shown a lot of love that day from our execs, and then the office orders lunch, gives a small gift, etc.
It’s pathetic! We got no recognition from partners and our so called office gave us cold cheeseburgers and a book about how to dig deeper and do more! 😳
Well, that sucks. Why even make a half-assed effort?
Maybe you should leave the book on a partners’s desk.
My company sent out an email from the Chief People Officer and gave us all a $100 gift card from the company. However, when I worked at BCG most of my Partners never even acknowledged it
Random but in the same book: do offices or admin teams also celebrate National Boss’s Day?
Someone mentioned this in my office yesterday because it’s coming up next month 😳
