Systems at work were updated yesterday and now everything feels off and laggy. RIP to my productivity. Anyone else’s company push an “upgrade” that made things worse?

More than once. And then we're blamed for the resulting inefficiencies because "we gave you an upgrade, why are you using it as an excuse?" I swear most decision-makers don't know anything about the jobs they oversee.

That sounds so familiar. It’s frustrating when leadership doesn’t see the real impact on day-to-day work.

I've gotten to the point where I just naturally assume an upgrade will only cause problems. I can remember instances where some feature I liked was deprecated, or some new feature came along that made a mess of something. And there's also the scenario like you allude to, where the new software doesn't run well on the same old hardware. I guess people said the same thing when quill pens were replaced by steel nibs. But really, most upgrades just take us sideways, if that.

Exactly. “Upgrade” often feels like code for losing something useful or breaking what already worked.

I wonder if we work at the same place, because my company literally just updated our system yesterday and not only did the update take like 2 hours, now my computer is glacially slow.

Feels like these “upgrades” are syncing across companies. Hoping things are better for us next week

I am glad it is not only me. Upgrades feel weird now. I get afraid every time they mention the word. I agree with you, for me to upgrade the current process.

Yeah.. It's so sad, but I get nervous when I think about upgrades. I wish I could change my perspective on that because change is supposed to be good. right?

Company on track for 22 goals. Traditionally included 2% profit sharing at YE, this year however comes with a unique caveat.

The CEO added a qualifier, to be eligible for the payout one must agree to and sign a binding arbitration agreement. In the CEOs email to staff he indicates these agreements are standard in most companies and typically required for new hires.

I’m curious to get insight from others. Is this standard practice and generally required for new hires? Something feels off.

Hello,
I am curious about the latest challenges your company has faced in supply chain operations for the past few months. Is anyone willing to share?

Confession: I used to have a F co-worker who had bad body odor (the raw type that can be masked with deodorant or good hygiene). Others including F co-workers were making fun of her behind her back. I knew she would take it some type of way coming from a M co-worker but I sent her an email about it to avoid any type of face to face awkwardness. Contd in comments...
