Met my husband on Catholic Match 13 years ago. My advice is date longer than you're tempted to.
Online dating makes it seem like you know all the personal things but family dynamics, how he or she interacts with others, how they live their life in general, is hard to assess.
My husband has a lot of preferences that I cannot abide and vice versa.
I'm also on a more professional track and would like him to pick up the slack on his professional life so I can back off mine and be more present with my kids. We have 4 now.
I always wanted a big family and for him he finds 4 overwhelming.
We put God first. Which is the only reason we are still together. But as a convert, he also has a lot of views that are different than mine, especially politically.
SO... date and be engaged and discerning A LOT longer than you feel is necessary so long as it doesn't cause you to sin. Get to know his/her childhood friends and family and the trajectory of his/her life and views.
I wish I'd prayed on it and worked more out with him before being married with kids.
Thanks for sharing EY1. Praying for your marriage and your children. I have come to know that the best way my children get to know God is through the parents in showing authentic and genuine love with each other.
