That's hyperbole, but like a lot of exaggeration for effect, there's no doubt some kernel of truth to it. The numbers being tossed around may not be accurate, but it's just a fact that the large companies hired too many people in some areas. But, in fairness, companies can never know with absolute certainty where people may be needed.

Lot of speculation and assumption on my part maybe, but from what I keep seeing, tons of companies that did really well during Covid overhired and now that things are getting worse or maybe just evening out, they are starting to lay off to fix that.

I think over hiring was just part of their plan. Big companies hired a number of new people instead of giving opportunities to old loyal employees who were desperate for growth. It seems like they just wanted to get rid of their aged employees to get young underpaid employees onboard.

Well , it depends on from where you see IT !! There is nothing new about this statement - it has been around since ever ; btw I heard it for the first time when i started my career couple of decades back ....In my humble opinion just carry along , there is lot of time untill humanity reaches that stage where AI and automation does everything.

I was interviewed at EY UK on 7th Sep. It was quite smooth. Since then I haven't heard anything back from them though interviewer claimed SLA to get back with outcome of interview is 48 hours. On portal it still says I'm in hiring team phase. It was level 1 interview.

Should I take this delay as rejection?

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!

I didn’t like what they’ve done to me specially I’ve been redundant from the previous role before joining this company. I cannot sleep please any plan’ action and what to answer for the reason why you leave your company? I’ve been in 3 jobs for the last 2 years.

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I'm still bringing money in as a software engineer, but I'm looking for advice on how to support a partner who has been laid off. Ultimately I think we will be ok, but I know he's hurting / stressed / and could use a supportive partner.
