I work part time with my local clan
Just about everyone I know has to hold one or more part-time gigs. Some guys work part-times after almost every shift. It's a disgusting part of law enforcement nowadays. If you want working 14 hour days you are probably bankrupt.
... And yet the world asked us to be more professional, in a good mood and everything else positive. Maybe if guys weren't having to worry about feeding their families they might be in a better mood.
Do you get any OT
Yep
Most agencies across the country pay according to their tax base. Big cities usually have bigger salaries. Law enforcement is a thankless job. You do it because it’s in your blood. And blood is what you will pay doing the job. If you think you’ll get rich being a cop then you’re joining for the wrong reason. You will be another submarine on duty. Runs deep and silent all shift and only surfaces at the end of the shift. Dodges calls faster than you can say donut.
I know it is not comparable to being a Police Officer, but Security Agents are experiencing something kind of similar (at least here in Québec)...
Here the provincial government is in charge of licensing, overseeing and regulating every private security agents regardless of which company they work for.
6 years ago starting the job at around 19$/h was a good salary for such a job .. but nowadays, I'd rather be a janitor and start at 24$/h than be an agent and start at the very SAME salary of 19$/h that we had years ago...
It doesn't make sense, the cost of life and especially the rents have gone through the roof these past few years, and yet the salaries remain the same...
