This is honestly not a light issue :D. How do folks on the bowl who have family in other states deal with the back-to-back holiday travel? Do you give up on going home for either of the holidays or do you make it to both? Moving thanksgiving to October seems like a solid option, not gonna lie!

One or the other, not both. With two young kids at home, holiday traveling is that much more stressful and not something I'm willing to do twice in a month.

My unpopular opinion is that people have been bullied into traveling for holidays and they need to fight back against it. If you want to do it, great, but all the pressure to do it is just the opposite of what holiday spirit should be. And keep Thanksgiving when it is, the history of it matters. The story of editor Sarah Josepha Hale convincing Lincoln to issue a Thanksgiving proclamation should be honored, not changed because people have overbearing families in our silly era.

I'm with this! I need a month's break between these two major holidays. It almost feels like too much with it all being together.

It would be nice if it was in October but unfortunately it is not. I usually go home every other year for Thanksgiving and the years I don't go home for Thanksgiving, I usually go home for Christmas. I just can't afford two flights back to back like that. They hike the prices up during the holidays.
