As a recruiter, I have no problem with that. I predict cover letters are going the way of the dodo anyway. I used to require cover letters to get a feel for applicants' written communication skills, but now that anyone can produce one in under 10 seconds using free AI we can't do that anymore. I do still think cover letters are useful if a person has a special circumstance they wish to explain up front. For example, a stay-home parent looking to rejoin the workforce will use his/her cover letter to explain what will otherwise look like a huge gap in their work history. Including that information in the body of an email makes good sense because that's the first thing the recruiter will see.
