My home office is NY but I live in NJ and I’m filing taxes in multiple states that I worked in this year. On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? Can I just subtract my total wages from the state wages from my W2 of the other states I’ve worked in?

Need some guidance. My wife recently switched job and her office is in NYC and we are planning to move to either NJ or Pennsylvania to relatively save tax and enjoy suburb life. Would she be liable to pay for NY State Tax and NJ / PA tax? I am assuming that she does not need to pay the NYC City tax.

Figure out the companies you refuse to work for on ethical grounds before you start looking for a job. It may feel like limiting your opportunities, but most of the time a company doing bad things in the world is going to have an unpleasant internal culture to match.

I work at a small CPA firm & have worked there since I started as an intern. I’m curious about what everyone’s job duties are/were as a senior at other firms? For ex: did you review returns of staff or just prepare? Did you manage the clients like keep a track of their filings, other work you do for them and contact them to send the details or ask questions or is that something the manager does? Are you expected to be very technical and do a lot of research?
