Are they actually rude or are you being sensitive?
The first time I found out younger associates were leaving me out of things, I was actually incredibly flattered. It meant that they saw me as senior. After years of being at the bottom of the barrel, it can be really nice to see that younger people respect you/don’t want to risk looking silly around you.
Try to take this as a compliment, and don’t stop helping this person. They trust you and respect you.
There's no accounting for people's personalities, and some people may not have the social graces we expect. When dealing with someone like that, I consider whether their behavior is deliberately shady, or unethical in some way. If they mean no harm, I'd just help them, do whatever is best for the work, and be done with it.
Some people are just weird and it may also be how they communicate. Generally guide and empower them to be more proactive. It sounds like they aren’t really friendly to you outside of a task, but don’t take it personally.
I would still help them out and kill them with kindness. That is just me though. I never take anything personally.
