I love this! I’ve been trying to figure it out myself and thinking of going 1099 to have more of that flexibility like take off during summer months when my son is out of school.
Are you thinking pitching 1099 to your current company or going out and finding clients for yourself?
2 days might be hard, but you never know. I'm in public accounting and dropped down to 60% when I had my babies, which was 24/week about half of the year and 32/week about half of the year. It was fantastic. I'm grateful for the flexibility my firm allows. Now my kids are all in school and I'm at 75%, which still pays a pretty solid salary, but frees up time to pick them up from school, coach their teams, not stress for the million doctor and orthodontist appointments, etc. A couple of my good friends are also in accounting and have found work at private companies 3ish days/week.
I haven’t heard of anyone getting less than 4 days and even then I don’t personally know anyone who has gotten it. But I’m happy to hear that there are people who get 3 days! Gives me some hope that this may be an option
I work 4 days and get paid 4. Can’t hurt to ask. Companies might value a strong person who is cheaper bc it’s not a full time gig
I’ve heard of people doing this but from what I’ve heard it’s just as much work as what they were doing before but with less time to do it and no benefits. I’m really looking to do 2 days max 3 days. Truly part time
