PwC India Hi Folks, I left my stable job at Deloitte USI and moved to Germany for a better job. But my mom had a major health issue and I'm planning to travel back to India to support her as I'm a single child. I'm working in one of the top organisation in Germany with a base of 90k euro and looking for good opportunities in India. Reception noticed him. Why? He’s probably charismatic, hot, or both.
He is easier on the eyes
He is probably much more handsome than you
This is obviously it
Clearly they like him better.
I know the comments about the attractiveness sound like jokes but its true. I had a senior on my team who was super model good looking. We travelled together most weeks. We would check in at the same time as me and without fail he would get upgrades at least 2x/month. He would also get tons of drink vouchers. The entire team would laugh at all the perks he would get.
I think he’s laughing at you
Upon further discussion we discovered that we paid about the same rate and he is platinum. I am titanium. Why am I in a double bed standard room? What’s the upgrade secret here?
Platinums are not eligible for suite upgrades at Ritz, only Titanium and up. Maybe the front desk employee felt generous.

Did he book earlier?
Did he check in a different day (I.e. Sunday va Monday)? I’m staying in a ritz next week and the upgrade already shows on the reservation (ambassador). Really depends on the individual hotel.

This happens a lot. I have had this happen multiple times at various Marriott properties where I have higher status, checking in at the same time, paying the same rate, etc. and a coworker gets an upgrade and I don’t.
I honestly think if you’re top tier they assign you the best available room maybe 48 hours out. A suite may open up between then and check in and they don’t actively look to try to move you into the room. Your lower status coworker comes in without a pre assigned room, they may give them the suite instead of shuffling people around.
Upgrades are at the discretion of the person that checks you in...

Same nights? Much easier to upgrade 1 night than 3.

Did you use mobile check in? Seems like mobile check in users get fewer upgrades than those that do it in person
You just have to ask !
