Lots of regulations make it hard to be creative. Do you mean more respect for a person’s age?

I’m 61 and still at it. I’ve been on my own since 2000 when I got whacked in a lay-off at my last full time agency gig. Things got a little dicey 3 years ago when I lost several long-term clients to retirement, layoffs & career changes, and it’s been tough building things back from scratch. Not entirely certain ageism is playing a role, since most of my current clients are in faraway states and I’ve never met them. More likely it’s when I tell them I can’t work for the $40/hour they’re offering for writing jobs or the $75/hour they’re splurging for “experienced” CDs with the chops and experience to lead their internal teams and new business initiatives. Tough racket these days.
Hang tough. I’m sure you’ve got more wisdom and experience to cull from than we all could hope for. Keep on rocking in the free world.

It's not about being 'old' or 'young'. Your age has nothing to do with how others see you. It's about being youthful in how you approach everything in your life. Youthfulness is everlasting. For example: Tony Hawk: 51 and youthful. Arnold Schwarzenegger: 72 and youthful. Pharrell Williams: 46 and youthful.
Youth is wasted on the young.
As a start: Susan Credle, Cathy Zheng, Margaret Keene, Cindy Gallop, Margaret Johnson, Cathy Hughes on the agency side. But more and more are coming.

47 and looking. Got some leads but nothing yet. Newly laid off... this should be fun. 🙄
47 too. Just went in house after a painful 10 month search. I don’t feel so old there. Much more diversity overall in age, race, even gender neutral bathrooms, the whole nine. Digging it so far.
