Go minivan. You will not regret it. Tons of room plus keeps up with growing family.
I have the Pacifica and love the fold down seats. Never have to take them out to load large things.
The Van is back.
They are much cheaper and more convenient.
Not sure if I’m pro or con so take this as you will. We have had one for 5+ years and while it was great for shuttling kids and dogs and gear, we are also not getting another one.
Maybe the takeaway is that it’s perfect for the stage of life when they’re little, and then when they can seat themselves and you don’t have to climb into the back as much, they lose some of their utility.
Good luck finding a telluride in stock. We couldn’t, and they were back ordered 8+ months in my area
I went with a Palisade - big fan so far. Basically same as a telluride and i got it at MSRP. Calligraphy package. Was like $52k brand new, with some insurance.
Though I haven’t compared the trim levels side by side, my impression was that the Volvos are $10k more expensive for similar features and I can’t think of a compelling reason why I’d pay that.
I have little experience with the brand. Are they reliable? Any change since they were bought by that Chinese manufacturer some years back?
I just got Telluride and love it. 3rd row has plenty of space (even for adults to sit). I had to wait about 4 months for mine. Upgraded all features and packages.
We just got the 2020 Highlander in preparation for our first kid in early Feb. HHI is around the same as yours. Was a little hesitant to pull the trigger on this (49k all in) but figured it’s gonna be used to the ground.
We looked at both and went with the Subaru Ascent and absolutely love it. You can’t go wrong with the telluride but I work about the Volvo. IMO is over priced and consumer reports gives it pretty low reliability scores.
Agreed here. I love my Telluride (Pallisade is also nice just different styling) and though the Volvo was over priced. Friend has the Ascent and it’s also great and good bang for your buck like the Telly.
Got a Telluride EX with some added features 1 month ago. Have 2 young kids. Pleased with the car, has all the gadgets, and fits everything with ease. Happy with the purchase.
You’ll have to get on a dealers waiting list, but took us 3 weeks to get ours from their incoming stock.
Also, HHI 250k. Is $50-60k crazy to spend on a car?
I’m looking in that range on less than that, so if you’re crazy, what does that make me 🙃?
I have the xc60, probably going to upgrade to the 90 after no. 2 is born. Seriously love that car
Depends on what your usage will look like (small trips vs. long travel, annual miles, buy vs lease etc.) XC90 has a ton of safety and is a very good car for city driving thanks to the features (personal experience). But I don't think the 3rd row is that comfortable. No idea about Telluride.
I like my XC90, has never let me down. And I managed to get a really good deal on a CPO with all the packages and only 11K miles on it. The third row stays down and gives me a heck lot of cargo space. The one thing that might annoy you is limited USB ports.
3 young kids here and we settled on the Ford Expedition Max (3rd row is plenty big/comfortable and there is still plenty of trunk storage) it also have some pretty baller features in it but also for a baller price tag!
We love our XC90. The car prices are crazy these days. We bought it 2.5 years ago for $80k, got some federal and state EV tax rebates, and now it's worth $72k. Anyway, we got the T8 which is above your price range but we had a T6 before this one. Both great!! Car is super luxurious and very safe. You can also get it with a built in booster seat which has been an awesome feature randomly taking friends around.
Ascent is a great choice and much more affordable. MDX is also good if you want more luxury than Subaru.
For what it’s worth, Consumer Reports has a very dim view of the Ascent, specifically it’s reliability. I don’t recall the details behind their rating approach so take that with a grain of salt, but it has been at the bottom of the 3-row SUV segment in the last several versions I have looked at.
