Well, it sounds like you made the decision to write the letter and hand it to your boss. It's not "OK" what she did by listing the position and telling people in other facilities that you were leaving before she fired you and before you wrote an exit letter. That letter pretty much gave her what she wanted. If I were you I would not have resigned - I would have made my boss make the first move and fire me. Then I would have contested it. You played right into her hand and gave her exactly what she wanted, but she wanted YOU to do it to yourself so that she couldn't be blamed.
I already have a complaint filed with the EEOC for something else so I'm just going to add to it. My interview is scheduled for January. I also let a friend in DOH know. They are fighting me on unemployment, but i have a 2nd interview Friday set up so hopefully that works out.
So sorry might seem scary now but I was in a VERY toxic position the owner was physco. He use to pull the chair out when I went to sit down, and say all kinds of inappropriate and nasty things to me. I ran his inside sales room and had 12 reps under me that I hired and trained. His warped mine set was if I got angry I'd produce more, what a nut how does that work. I was there 10 yrs loved my team and the job in general and made a fabulous $$ but had to leave it was doing a number on me. Karma's a bitch I had him Black balled out of the industry and he lost his partnership in the company

Don't let that incident hold you back from moving forward on your goals or upcoming career path. Too much focus on that situation might hold you stagnant. How you handle the situation or go forward is ultimately your choice, without judgement. Personally, I turn my negative situations or events into motivation to go forward and create better impacts on my own growth.
Started a new job yesterday. 10 minutes down the road from my house, my mom worked there when I was a kid, I know some of the staff and residents already. I am already happy. :-)

Start my new job tomorrow. Kadima Healthcare is where I was. They have 6 facilities, i was in the Dallas and Drums pa facilities. They went through 3 BOMs in 5 months according to resident families and staff. There were residents making bets on how long I would last bc they knew the problem person fired everyone. (I beat all their bets, so I'm proud of that lol) I've since contacted EEOC, Dept of Labor for missing 3 days of pay, and emailed a friend in DOH to give a heads up (3 of us got fired within 3 weeks of eachother) bc they know this person is a problem. I also put a complaint in on her NHA license for allowing sexual harassment, bullying, and a toxic work environment to not only thrive, but ensuring it's continuity by contributing to it.
Did you utilize your right to EAP that is supposed to be provided by your work usually?. Did you contact HR in regards a toxic, hostile or stressfull work environment?. Did you talk to your Dr. About your stressful work environment?. Did you get a note from your dr. That took you off work due to stress?. If so that could be considered a work comp issue. Hiring and firing are supposed to be confidential within HR. However other people become aware and talk among peers that may have told a friend elsewhere. So normally no announcement of vacancy or hiring for the position can take place untill after the position is vacated , which equates to the last date the person worked, or effective resignation date or termination date. Also depends on if they are an at will employer. Lots of factors at play.
They dont have an HR. The RDO does HR with no HR training and falsified documents (don't ask how I know, wait, ask me) and shes the reason they have high turnover. DOH knows her VERY well so when I left I reached out and gave a heads up bbecause I'm friends with someone there. They can't help me, but they can add it to the file. They fired the director of PT today for the color of her hair...that she was hired with... year ago. I got the text this afternoon.

Unfortunately, most employers don't care about us and won't create a statue out front after we leave. Where I work, RN's are required to give a 4-wk notice, other staff a 2-wk notice. Immediate supervisors treat those who give their notice like literal crap until they finally leave after exhausting their required notice. Not professional at all but "leaders" need NOT be qualified as a leader where I work. They just have the desired/appropriate degree to say it's ok to make them a "leader," or at least a friend or family member in the department to make it happen. Pretty terrible.
My policy was 4 weeks but I only have 2. It was better than walking out. I couldn't handle 4. I would have either offed myself literally or ended up in a psych ward for trying. I was in a BAD mental place by the time I threw in the towel.
