Here, it depends on the road conditions, power outages, and whether the town and district employees can get the schools plowed out, shoveled out, and sanded. If it is determined that the busses can’t safely pick up the kids and drive, then school is cancelled. If there are power outages in the areas where the schools are, school is cancelled. Otherwise, it is game on! We don’t do eLearning. We tried it one year and the families fought back on it- they wanted their kids to have traditional snow days and they did not want to be responsible for getting their kids to do school over the computer. I am glad.

We get a lot of push back for the ELearning Days, of course of my 97 students, I had a whopping 15 students check in or do the assignment.
That would be a policy determined in your district.

... and oh the inconsistency of that policy. I just can't seem to figure out what is going to be one time, and then the next time, it is totally different
Safety is the overriding factor here. Unsafe for buses to operate or if temps/windchills are in the -20s, then it’s a snow day. Hey, it’s Minnesota! 🤷🏼
A long time ago due to bad winter weather and scheduled breaks, we did not have a full five days of school from mid-December until the second or third week of February. Those days are gone in MN now… this year we’ve had one snow day and that was an iffy one; the past couple of years, I don’t think we’ve had one. Last year we raked our yard on Dec. 27; this year I had some flowers bloom in early November!
