I bought a Tudor jumbo date just like 5 years ago. Pretty sure it was AG and I didn’t have any issues. Was serviced with Rolex case back and crown at one point of time

Generally yes. I'm sure there are exceptions that can slip through, but eBay has been expanding the authentication program quite a bit and as someone in the industry I can vouch for at least the people I personally know who are very experienced doing the work.

Thinking about a cheaper watch for vacations, working outside, general beater. I only have nice dress watches so I don't ever wear them to the pool/beach/etc.

Probably automatic, less than 1k, reasonably waterproof. Currently looking at Seiko divers but curious what people's favorites are.

I have two of these - they’re each 4 years old, battle-tested and keeping perfect time. Ronda movement in a US assembled case... very good 800-1k range watch for a wide range of wearability.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea, so unless bowl leader shoots it down: let’s build him a watch. We can select a parts list, I’ll document the process, and then we can donate it in recognition of the work that goes into making this a great space.
