I go through an excessive amount of neem oil.
Plant itself. It smells pretty terrible, but it does the job for most pests.
I've used organic soap (Safer is the brand name) and it has worked pretty well. I had a problem with red spider mites and that literally dissolved them. It doesn't work with every bug, though.
Thank you for the suggestion I will look into it

Insecticidal soap works pretty well for aphids/mites/etc, as QA1 suggested (I also use Safer brand). I also have had good luck with horticultural oil, I use Bonide. It's important to use ones that are actually made for killing insects, I've tried homemade versions of both of these and it was night and day when I finally bought the real deal.
For caterpillars, can't beat Bt. Even beats many chemical controls. Only works on caterpillars, though.
I've also used spinosad, which unlike those two has residual effect -- useful for insects that don't stick around to get sprayed / only come out at night. This is a last resort for me because it's dangerous to pollinators until it's dry, and there are always bees around when I'm outside.
