For me, the sign was when every day started with dread and ended with total burnout, even though the work itself wasn’t that hard. I stopped caring about the little wins and started avoiding people. If you’re feeling drained all the time or can’t picture yourself sticking it out another year, it’s totally okay to start looking elsewhere.
I can usually tell it’s time to leave a job if I can’t fall asleep at night because I’m thinking about work. Or my job invades my dreams or the thought of going to work on Monday morning fills me with panic.
For me, the biggest sign is when I start thinking about work after hours or wake up with anxiety as the weekend ends. I’ve had sleepless nights just stressing about work—and that was a major red flag. When I catch myself fantasizing about random backup careers like "I wish becoming a fairy like I dreamed as a kid was real," that’s when I know something’s seriously off.
When you start to dread every single day at your job and have no motivation. When you start to ask yourself why you're even doing something and feel like zombie going through the motions.
