Friends, I have 11+ years of experience and have been selected for a L5 Non Tech PM role. Amazon is offering me 24 base + 8 SB + 200 RSUs. I will have to relocate to South India (from Delhi) for this and probably the offer may not cater to my expenses. It has been. I think financial companies are the worst culprits at this. They do it to try and attract tech talent and end up hiring folks who think they're getting something they aren't.
Product managers are responsible for the strategy, development, and launch of a product. They identify market needs, define the product roadmap, prioritize features, and work cross-functionally to ensure the product meets business objectives and customer needs.
So if they don't do this, they aren't really one.
I think that really depends on the company but I would definitely agree that you have to read a lot more into the details if you're looking at positions.
As a product manager, I believe that the main deliverables are to understand the customer, define the product strategy, and ultimately deliver the product. Expectations include being able to work collaboratively with the engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure the product meets customer needs. I have personally seen the title of product manager thrown around a lot in the last few years, but I think it is becoming an increasingly important role as companies look for ways to better understand and serve their customers.
Honestly, a lot of things, but I discovered that rigorous prioritization, not only for the product but also for your time, is essential.
A good project manager will not operate in isolation and will strive to deliver the best results possible. They will include people early in the process and continue to clear up confusions as they strive to develop the greatest product possible.
