What do you think is the importance or the impact of the role education plays in helping a client achieve realistic financial goals? I've always felt that clients who are educated about the implications of their financial choices are more likely to set achievable goals... rather than some who are just paying me to convince themselves that they can pursue unrealistic aspirations. Some of my clients don't even have the slightest clue about budgeting/saving, and it makes life harder for me. Thoughts?

This is honestly why I focus on educating my clients if I sense that they're lacking in financial literacy. They’re more likely to set goals that make sense for their situation and it makes our job as advisors so much easier because we’re working together toward something achievable, rather than trying to manage unrealistic expectations. I've had clients who don’t have even a basic grasp of financial concepts, and it's so frustrating. They pretty much expect miracles or make decisions that aren’t grounded in reality.
