I'd say $150k-ish, give or take, feels comfortable now in an MCOL area. Nothing flashy, but enough for an average house, regular cars, kids’ expenses, saving a bit, and not stressing over everyday costs.

Depends on your definition of comfortable, but I'd say $150-175k household minimum if you want to actually save anything. "Average" cars and house still cost way more than they did five years ago. Same with childcare if your kids aren't old enough for school yet.
