My family used to sponsor a car at the 500 for 30 years or so. It led my grandfather to befriending the likes of Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Phil Hill.
The last time we where heavily invested was with Giles Villenvue in CART/F1
TLDR; family was involved.
Crazy stuff mate!
The movie “Rush” detailing Hunt and Lauda’s rivalry when I saw it in theaters with my dad. Re-watch it once a month.
I randomly saw the Red Bull F1 car do donuts on a demo run on Congress st when I was at UT Austin. I also went to their engineering talk at school and was completely blown away. This was a few months before the race was held at COTA track if I remember correctly. Been a fan of red bull since then.
Hook em!!
Tried the F1 game, loved it, later watched DTS, then started watching everything I could. Never looked back
Rising Star
When I was a teenager, I was watching either Nascar or Indycar on TV. I told my dad the cars were fast, he said F1 was faster.
I figured, why should I watch a lesser series. And then I became an F1 fan.
Used to ride a sportbike and followed MotoGP. That was my gateway to F1.
Have always been into cars from a very young age. The idea and thrill of speed has always held me. I love the idea that they can do what no one else can and are comfortable and calm at the very limit of the car... and life. My favorite car as a 6 yr old was the Johnny Player Special Lotus. Would watch random F1 races when on Wide World of Sports and followed guys like Carlos Reuteman Jody Scheckter. Remember reading all about Niki Lauda, his crash, his retirement and then his return with McLaren. Guys like Piquet and Alan Jones and John Watson were names familiar to me. Of course Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevert.
Got re-engaged around 1988 when ESPN would show the races and seeing the McLarens of Senna and Prost blasting thru the forest at the old Hockenheim. I appreciated road circuits more than ovals, and with F1 everything was the unknown world for me still as a last teen who lived in a very rural area. The knowledge... traveling the globe and going to different countries and tracks, the engineering, drivers with charisma who often spoke multiple languages and just seemed to understand something no one else did. Driving like nothing else mattered - the fame and glamor were all just an accessory to the speed. Learning the history of the sport and the tracks and drivers and teams. The commitment to excellence and NEVER quitting and always being ready to sacrifice everything to perform and succeed. No excuses
Everything. I love EVERYTHING about it, even though probably see thru a but different lens than the DTS fans (not that that is good or bad, but just is)
Grandfather was a big follower of a Williams driver, started watching it with him in the late 90s/early 2000s. We’d stay up/get up early together on the weekends when he visited. Some of my fondest memories.

Jacques is the man
DTS
Love of cars in the early aughts, specifically BMW. As such, I don’t have a team anymore, which is actually liberating because I can simply watch it and enjoy.
My dad
huge mclaren and senna fan (and he worked for shell at the time, so there was also that connection)
Would get up early to watch with him
My dad was into Indy when I was a kid. My senior year of college in the fall of 2006, a roommate got into it and would download races. It wasn’t the first race I watched, but the first thing from a race I remember is when Schumacher’s engine blew up and Alonso waived at him on his way to his second WC
The first time I saw f248 and r26 battling out on tv made me fall in love. Not to mention the screaming V10s
Test
Sorry about that ^
A few friends have been into it for ages and always thought I'd enjoy it, but I held out. Then they begged me to watch DTS as a last ditch effort, and the rest is history.
Bill Burr talking about it a lot on his podcast when I used to listen c. 2018-19
1998-99 Mika Hakkinen vs Michael and loved the West McLaren Mercedes. I was just a kid but loved the rivalry back then. Few years later Kimi came along and joined McLaren as well.
Very new fan. Liked the idea of attending a race so the first one I saw ever was Monaco 2022 live and I was sold. Been watching DTS on Netflix to learn all the players
Lol, I had "attend international sporting event" on my "bucket list" type list and i was gonna be in south of France anyway, so i said, I'll check out this Monaco race😂😂. Hilarious now that i know more because WHAT a first race!
Randomly saw it on TV as a kid and I was fascinated. I’ve been hooked ever since
