What hobbies do people have that they actually enjoy and helps them function better? Full transparency, I’m really disliking my job at the moment, and I don’t have an option to leave this year.

I need to bring myself some joy outside of the office so I’m not constantly having anxiety over things either.

I know this is weird to list as a hobby but genuinely: cleaning my house. I have two young kids and the physical chaos is actually hard to process mentally. I get so overwhelmed and overstimulated when things are a mess. Cleaning is like a hobby and makes me feel so much better!!

(Note: I don’t necessarily mean going crazy deep cleaning. I mean like straightening things for an hour or two each night and throughout the day on weekends. Even doing this, there are still piles of stuff in my house that don’t get totally cleared.)

Boxing and kickboxing with a personal trainer/ex-pro. The flexible and irregular schedule keeps me from flaking out, the adrenaline helps me reach sharpness, and frankly it's a really healthy way to release anger/frustration. And seeing other regulars at the gym just reminds me that work isn't the only group of people I have access to.

Anything that gets me outside and away from screens makes a world of difference for me. I do a lot of walking and camping, but my favorite by far is cycling. I try to go for a ride a few times a week, and I go for multi-day trips when the weather is nice.

I’ve become negative about my life and can only think how I’ve been wronged, how I’m stuck, and frustrations w/ various circumstances in my life. They all feel connected in a cycle I can’t escape bc it’s all cause and effect ending up back where it started. I can’t find where to break the toxic cycle of negative in my life or how to make those circumstances better. I feel my life has backed me into a corner. I’m aware I’m playing victim and not taking charge of my life. Advice on breaking free?

I am just unsure whether to accept the offer as I was waiting for kpmg reply as I want B4 on my resume which apparently is a big deal. Is BT also good on resume for future employers ??

Additional Posts in ADHD Consultants

My psychiatrist today revealed to me that I may have ADHD, still a hypothesis that he is still exploring but from my personal experiences and discussions with therapist, it seems likely.

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. I do struggle to keep focus and generally take a bit longer to finish them, specifically the structuring of the case. Does anybody else feel the same way and any recommendations to overcome this?

On interview days, do you take adderall / concerta? I’m nervous that it can make me seem more robotic / less personable during cases etc.

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!
