The best approach would be to be open and honest with her about how it makes you feel. She might think she has good intentions but if its making you uncomfortable, she should know.
Well, on the one hand, it does sound like she cares but I agree she is overstepping. You can gently explain to her that it makes you uncomfortable when she brings this topic up, legally, she should have to stop once you say this. If she continues then bring it up to HR and document everything in case you need it. The good news is I think you could sue if she tried to fire you for some reason
Is there a particular reason why your boss has said this to you? I believe we’ll be able to guide you better if you tell us about why she says it.
As EY1 said, you need to figure out why she’s saying this. You mentioned anxiety, but anxious behavior is common and not indicative of ADHD. There’s something that’s missing in this whole story. Unless she’s actually really vile and is using her power and authority to make you internalize that you have a disability (because you were inattentive and/or anxious a couple of times). In that case, report it to HR. This shit can be quite damaging to your self-esteem and make you question yourself.
I just hope she tells you that in private. She shouldn't just go diagnosing people around her. I'm just curious about the manner how she tells you that you have adhd. I think it would be best to have a private conversation with her and tell her how it makes you uncomfortable.
I don't believe it is legal for her to make these comments and if you tell her that it is upsetting to you, she should stop. If she gets defensive or anything pp in a chat with HR
Make it known that you don't particularly appreciate her side comments. It lacks sensitivity, even if you're close with her.
She doesn't have a doctors degree so she shouldn't be telling you this. I believe it is very rude and obnoxious of her. I think you have the right to tell her to stop because it is upsetting you and if she doesn't bring it up to the human resources department.
