It's nothing new. It's just something some social media influencer gave a trendy name to so people think it's something radical.
I'm going to be honest, I think the prevalence of these trends and how social media acts like it's "taking back power" is just causing more distance between socioeconomic groups. There's a certain level of privilege someone has if they can hold a job that pays a good salary where you don't need to be physically or mentally active or stimulated while working minimum hours but getting the same salary regardless. I'm all for a work/life balance, but the way these "trends" are discussed leaves a bad taste in my mouth and reminds me a lot of people who call themselves feminist, but only as long as feminism helps people just like them and not "the others".
100% agree. I fully support white collar professionals setting appropriate boundaries at work. But we tend forget that most workers DO NOT have that option.
The "lazy girl job" is two-fold that doesn't literally mean lazy, but as Slalom said, taking back your power. Its a concept that as a employee, we can find ourselves investing so much of our energy to a company that in the end, we don't take the time to consider if we are even being compensated appropriately, the flexibility available to us, the health and wellness of ourselves, and all other things that create a positive work experience.
It's about creating a balance for yourself within the workplace where you take your career and wellbeing back into your own hands, and not allow a company or personnel to burn you out or let you feel less than. So you go about your role based on scope and ensure for yourself that your own wellbeing stays in tact throughout your tenure with an employer, or any employer for the "lazy girl job" matter.
So to put it simply, it's about human decency--holding your employer accountable in treating you the way that they should already be treating you rather than giving them the upper hand to treat you without regard to human decency. It's a mental perspective that anyone can create/initiate for themselves. It's just based on how you view yourself as an employee and what you're willing to allow to take place with you within a company.
I have one but it pays 6 figures 🙃
I’m a social media analyst at a big financial firm.
I do excellent work and am actively learning new skills and applying them but I only work 9a-5pm and never check messages or emails outside of those hours and don’t check in while I’m on vacation (I set these boundaries as soon as i started with my boss). I’m never stressed about my job - I’m an individual contributor which I think helps so I have no ambitions to move into leadership or people managing.
I had a stressful girl job before and was making half as much and working way more hours so I feel like I won the job lottery.
No nothing wrong with a 9-5 or 9-6. The concept is based mainly on no sweat jobs per say. Low maintenance & hopefully good pay. Allowing you to work on side hobbies, hustles or entrepreneurship.
I want an easy job. So so so bad. If you can prioritize your work and health balance over income high, I’m happy for you & wish you nothing but the best.
You don’t HAVE to be a highly ambitious burnout.

Good point.
Yes. Sign me up! Anyone have any recommendations for lazy girl jobs? I’m currently in the market
You can offer social media management, copywritting, graphic design, interior design, etc. There are a lot of options. But I don't think that's considered a "lazy girl job" since it is a business you are creating. It's easy to set up but you have to keep up with a lot of things.
Lol. We have a triggered mediocre white male in the group?
Looks like we aren’t allowed to use the horrible slur of “mediocre” applied to white males? 🤔
“Lazy Girl” work effort is fine.
“mediocre white male” work effort is not.
Got it.
Exactly & WW girl bye 👋 especially if it pays well lol 😂
I had one, I was beyond bored. But more importantly there were integrity issues with the role. I just couldn’t do it. But all the power to it, I say!
SCSM I asked for more work, whatever I could do. I was stuck. Within a year I found a new job, big promotion. And quickly discovered, very understaffed. The grass isn’t always greener.
I think it's great. Take back what power you can.
I think working your wage/lazy girl is great for boundary setting. Too many times a lot of us can’t say no because the corporate culture. And then take on much more than others in the group and get paid even less.
The ones I follow online want to work and willing to work. But don’t want to workload of 4 people and getting paid less than the lowest work level.
If there is a peak and you need me to work, I’ll take it on for extra pay. Oh just “good job” and a title change with no pay? I can’t pay my bills this way.
I’m someone who had 10 people replace me in a previous job. And no I wasn’t being paid the equivalent of 10 different people working those 10 jobs.
Lazy girl jobs is telling the system: something is broken and we need more help to get this done.
Agree my last client side role was considered a WLB job. I wouldn’t say lazy. I met my numbers sometimes exceeded them in corporate retail. My bonuses and salary mid 6 figures gave me WLB after leaving toxic healthcare & thrown on pitches and holiday time was the worst. Including fibroids growth due to stress. Everyone told me I won’t make what I made in healthcare they were right. I made more with less stress. Whatever the new name is 😒🤔. Years later after my layoff I see my role is now being handled by two people.
What are lazy girl jobs?
Wait...that's possible?? 😓
I want a lazy girl job and thought I got one. Now I’m paid less and working more lmao
I took a similar job so I could work less due to a health issue and it got crazy later (but only after a few years of having a super chilled time ) now looking for a new job that has a salary that reflects the slavery work that I will do :) back to the crazy grind I guess
What is a "lazy girl job"?
Coach
Look it up on TikTok. Basically a job that pays minimum and requires minimum time
It's like quiet quitting, total garbage. The idea people should be killing themselves is ridiculous. Also, why is it, girl? The sexism is funny.

I tend to agree, it doesn’t sit well for me either.
I have fought most of my life to not be called a girl at work by my male colleagues. I'm adult, not a child. I don't need any more trends infantilizing women at work.
Mentor
That’s a good point. I think the whole thing is derogatory but women are embracing it like they are smarter than others by doing this.
It has never been my dream to have a lazy girl job. I work hard!
I think the ‘lazy girl job’ is kinda weird considering the jobs are those that people put their blood and sweat into to sustain their families and themselves- not to mention it’s career paths that women take up a large share of… so what’s that saying about them
To each their own…if someone wants a job takes less effort, good for them. If someone wants to be ambitious and see how far their effort can take them, good on them.
How someone chooses to live their is only up to them to grapple with.
I will say if anyone wants to continue with the “lazy girl life” it’s pretty dumb to flaunt it on social media
Personally I don’t like these terms “lazy girl” and “quiet quitting” because it makes the worker sound negative when really the terms should reflect negatively on the business. I like “act your wage” and long for a term that encapsulates work can replace me tomorrow so I prioritize my family who cannot so easily.
100%. The terms misrepresent the impact to business and pros/cons for employees. Both are closely related to desiring a good work life balance. What is wrong with that? They are buzzy terms that trigger strong reactions (both negative toward workers) instead of nuanced conversation about improving employee experiences and what actually affects work ethic.
I want one. I feel like I work so much I even dream about work.
Same
My current position is a “lazy girl job” about 9 and a half months out of the year.
Which works perfect for my busy family life and side hustles that I have going on as well.
Not all “lazy girl jobs” have terrible pay!
What is your job?
I find it weird in the female bosses bowl. Either a WM or a WW reported it.
