Top Corp Dev teams: Trying to find the “top” (using this as short hand, I know it’s subjective) PE shops had a bunch of resources to use. However, there are no such resources (please share if I’m wrong!) for “top” Corp dev teams. “Top” is probably some mix of caliber of people, comp, ~prestige~, etc. let’s hear y’all’s top Corp dev teams!

What does VC portfolio operations do? What are some example projects or initiatives that they work on for startups? I am getting recruiter interest with this title but I am not sure how to wrap my head around it. Thank you.

Are all PE fund associates back in the office 5 days a week or mostly just 3 days?

I’m a new analyst at a PE firm, and my associate keeps blaming me for things she does wrong. Like she will tell me I made the wrong change, even though she is the one who changed it. Or in calls with other people, she won’t take responsibility for things that she told me to do that the other person calls out as wrong. How can I handle this situation without making her mad but also not letting her step all over me?

How hard is it to be a PE investor in software? Can it be challenging to understand the actual product/biz if you’re not from a CS background?

How useful is having worked with the PE practice (deal strategy, CDDs, etc.) of a consulting firm vs any other one when trying to break into PE? A large part of my job involves building models or making reports that involve copying numbers from one document to another. Sometimes, if I get interrupted, I lose my train of thought and make mistakes in getting the right number. Nothing disastrous has happened, but I’m trying to figure out how to get better at not losing my train of thought when doing work that basically involves looking up numbers from various documents. Any suggestions?
