Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?
Hi fishers! I have offer and signed contract with Deloitte UK and my start day is in the beginning of April. I need skilled worker visa, and we haven’t applied yet for that. Screening and onboarding is in progress. Immigration team doesn’t reply since reached me out 1st time. How much time does it usually needed to go through the whole process? How many days take for visa to be approved since application?Deloitte

Two weeks does kind of seem like the "standard" for starting at a new company. Typically you can accrue or earn more with more time. But I think it's still somewhat standard, but totally insufficient I agree. Tech companies probably offer the most
My company has two weeks of straight PTO and two weeks of sick time. It is not very much at all. You need a mental health day or a day off for your kids? Well, say goodbye to two "week long" vacations!
I’d say it’s more of a standard across competitors for a given talent pool rather than companies as a whole. I’ve negotiated for additional PTO to make it comparable to current employment
Most companies start with about 15 days of PTO, and some increase that the longer you stay. If two weeks feels too short, it’s perfectly fine to ask for more during negotiations. Paid time off is part of your total compensation, so it’s worth bringing up.
I always include my need for 4 weeks at the beginning. I have walked when the company decided it was too much. If they have a 90 day trial period before offering an official offer, it's easier to get what you want or very close.
If you feel they won't meet what you want, ask for more than what you want. I really hate the negotiating, pay me what I and the job are worth, with the proper amount of time off, without negotiating. It's annoying and you have already started on the wrong foot with your newest employee.
I get 12 PTO days and 5 sick days. I've been with the company 8+ years. Other coworkers have 15-20 PTO days and 5 sick days I believe.
