My favorite curriculum is using what I know worked in my classroom when I was allowed to teach my own curriculum. I had EVERY STUDENT TEST COMPLETELY OUT TITLE 1 testing (a first for any school in Birmingham, AL)! My students skipped first grade reading and math because they were so far advanced with their comprehension, oral reading, math computations, and all ares included in both subjects. They went outside and I worked with them on the balance beam, monkey bars, jump ropes, etc. that 100% had everything to do with how well my students performed! Our superintendent came in to observe as she continued getting such positive feedback about my classroom! When I moved schools, my students were held back in their learning by using district mandated curriculums! I didn’t need to have the extra reading program of LETRS to teach students!
Once again, they take the teacher out of the classroom and train us to be robots with what/how to teach!
