The levels of immigration over the past few decades which have ratcheted up to ever higher levels are actually the "extremism".
There isn't a single state in history which absorbed this many people so rapidly and lived to tell the tale.
I have many friends outside the UK/Europe/West and they all think it's insane that we thought we could just magic ethnic tensions away.
Europe has fought hard to achieve a certain level of gender equality and safety on the streets. Many people see that if large numbers of people from countries, cultures, or religions where these values are not respected come here without the intention to adapt and adopt european values, this could be put at risk and facts show this concern is real.
I can say that the laws in majority of these Asian African countries are much more strict as compared to UK, Europe or even U.S., whether it be related to thefts or to major crimes. The police in these African Asian countries don’t play around much either, sometimes they are not just but that instills fear in population, police in western world are somewhat a joke
What are you asking exactly? Are we racist? No.
I think law enforcements are arresting citizens that according to them are destabilizing or creating more issues locally. These are protestors that could be part of thise pro Tommy Robinson protests, anti immigration protests or pro Palestine protests. So that’s what i see atleast. The govt is not addressing the issue head on or the media isn’t reporting clearly what govt is doing. On top of that we have Elon musk acting like some sort of savior lol, we all know he’s a grifter and he doesn’t mean well let’s be honest.
In regards to Shabana, she got elected as Secretary of State I guess based on her merit, were there others as qualified?sure! Is she qualified? Sure based on her record! Is she good enough? Well, we will know now that she has gotten the seat wouldn’t we. We had Liz truss, a native UK citizen, to what people would say same culture, color, religion who wasn’t able to stand more than 50 days in power as PM, then we had Rishi as PM for 2 years again local UK citizen but ancestry wise from India. so the bar isn’t that high if the politician has had ancestors from within that country or outside
It's not clear exactly what you're trying to say. Maybe that's intentional. ""What's going on with foreigners"? Perhaps you could be clearer. Otherwise, I'm going to have to assume you're some kind of racist trying to foment unrest.
@sse1 USA is already completely controlled by a foreign power, 90% of politicians are bought by them.
EU citizen living in US for long.
So much conspiranoia in this threat. There is little 'ethnic' conflict and much 'social' one. Conflict doesn't often stem from cultural differences but from social unrest and inequality. The conflictive people and neighborhoods I knew in Paris, Madrid, Barcelona are the same, they just look less familiar, less comfortable. And we treat them different too because of it.
I am sure all of you tell yourself you know an exception 'this guy is muslim but he is not like the others, he is of the good ones' and it happens to be a) well-off or b) close to you.
Criticism of the immigration system is often along the lines of "the socioeconomic situation of the specific group X we brought in from country Y means they are disproportionately integrating poorly, committing more crimes, etc etc, due to their traumatic backgrounds..."
It's true that being a member of the international elite / professionally-mobile class (probably many people in this bowl) gives you shared cultural touchpoints which makes integration easier than being, say, a refugee from Somalia.
However, something might be entirely understandable from a social justice standpoint - but still subject to criticism. If group X from country Y is causing problems, the immigration system should take in fewer people from that group in future.
