One thing doesn't have to do with the other! There are Technology partners who don't have MBAs and generate millions in revenue. T-Mobile's CEO went to Farleigh Dickinson University for his MBA!!! Not everything is about the stupid GMAT for Christ Sake
D4 I had very high hopes of an MBA and tanked my GMAT twice - I have terrible test anxiety. I found an MSc program, that Deloitte recruits from, did very well there and got an SC offer to join as an advance degree hire. Did well and am now a manager. Were more than a test score.
Is this a troll post? How did you get hired by Deloitte if you can't crack 500 on GMAT?
What schools did you apply to? I got into NYU Stern and Rutgers Business School with a 580 GMAT. Ended up going to Rutgers executive MBA and was AWESOME. If you're shooting for Ivy leagues, I recommend keep trying until you get above 690.
hope this helps!
Honestly not sure what to recommend as next step.
I think a few options: 1) get some serious help on test prep, 2) re-set your sights on schools that you'll be competitive at with your scores, 3) forego b-school... you are already on the older extreme of students, so might be a little bit of an uphill battle anyway
Take a break. Then try a Manhattan GMAT prep course in person. I started around a 510 and ended up with a 630 after I was done (I suck at standardized tests). Got into NYU Stern's MBA program. Mostly due to a creative application and not so much the score. Remember, try to make up where you're lacking in all aspects of the application.
Yeah ignore the MBA for now. Switch to a HC based firm like Huron, ECG, ABC
Did you try GMAT courses? Getting late, but might be worth it if you can find the time.
Maybe you just need a break and a reset. The same thing happened to me. I hit a wall. I took a few months off and approached the new material from scratch. It helped boost my score a lot. I would suggest giving yourself some more time and applying to exec programs next fall. Best of luck!!
Manhattan gmat is pretty awesome at re-teaching you the basics.
Maybe that is what you need to do in order to increase your score
@D4 also beginning to think Troll
Just took the GRE for the 3rd time today, still under 150Q. Already wrote all my essays in hopes my scores would be better. Not sure if I should bother still applying, try the GRE again or just chase the partner dream. I'm currently in fed tech and I hate it, I wanted to switch to strategy healthcare. Advise? 30 year old male, SC
How did you do on your SAT?
I ask because perhaps you could adopt a new prep strategy if you are just not doing well here.
Thanks BCG1. I'm not sure either, I'm beyond frustrated. I took in both in person and online prep classes for both. Also I have a MS in IT already as well....
My SATs weren't great, don't remember the score though. I have 7 plus years experience out of grad school.
Were you scoring better in the practice tests?
I applied to and plan to apply schools between 10-25 ranked schools
Thanks EY1, I did take a few months off before even deciding to try again this year
Yes Mck1 my practice exams were higher, above 150s
