Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well?
How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.
I don’t know even know what I’m good at anymore.
Hey folks
I got a call from TCS to interview for a new unit formed within org with the name of Business Transformation Group as per new org restructuring. Anyone from TCS who can help to understand more about this?
Does it cater to only niche technologies or how does this actually function?

I’m very open about it, but I’m not sure if it’s a Latina thing. I always thought it was normal until someone told me not everyone does it. I like it because it gives me a goal, a deadline, and motivation for what’s possible.

By very open, do you mean like you're generally sharing it or do you just mean that you would be open to sharing it whenever someone asks?
Transparent AF
I always feel awkward bringing up salaries. However, if the salary conversation comes up I always participate too. I’m always willing to share and find out what other people are earning.

Yea I agree bringing it up is awkward but I'm in the same boat where if someone asks me, I'd be willing to share. Transparency definitely helps with making career choices
I’m typically quiet about it with my coworkers while we work together, however, if they get a job at another company, I’ll respectfully ask them if they’d mind sharing what they were making in their previous role.
I find that to be a sweet spot where it’s no longer as touchy because they typically leave for a better opportunity and you technically aren’t asking for their current salary info though I find that they tend to share their new salary anyway bc the conversation prompts them to show why the new offer was so much better.

So do you operate in a similar fashion when it comes to revealing your salary? And then to your point, if someone asks you about their old salary after you've left, do you also end up talking about your current salary?
I consider my salary my own personal business and I don't talk about it. If people want to talk about their personal finances, hey, that's their business and they can do what they want. But I'm not going to get into it.

That's fair. If it does come up in conversation though, how do you avoid answering or giving up a number?
Your salary should be kept private. No matter what you hear, it will cause challenges. Even if your salaries match. A lot more than the tactical side of your job goes into people’s salaries.
That's how companies keep everyone in the dark and on low salaries, because we're not open and transparent about it. Yes there is tactical reasons to some having higher salaries and it reveals a lot about the company and who they value the most. I will always share my salary and talk about it with co workers. So they have the confidence to fight for what they deserve and not just wait for a pay rise that will probably never come.

I also like to be transparent about it. I'm not going around telling everybody but generally if it's someone that I know and have been working with for a little bit, I'll tell them if they ask
