The problem is that the only ones who could really prepare and make a difference for us are the government and the CEOs. The very people who are benefiting from this change (or are paid off to turn a blind eye, like the gov). The rest of us have no option but to keep pushing on and hope for the best. What can we pivot to when all industries are being hit hard by either AI or the economy?
There is always McDonalds, " would you like fries with that"?
Better question is what isn't keeping me up at night. AI, the job market, the economy, whether my role is safe, whether my savings will last if it's not, whether I'll ever be able to retire. It's all one big pile of stress at this point.
I was laid off months ago and not having any luck finding work. Regarding AI or whatever, I've decided if by June I do not find employment, I will be applying for Social Security and have the government start paying me for the next 30 years. With that said I like everyone else that are Baby Boomers ( Which I am one of the last of the BB generation, will obviously want to have max benefits and max SS payments as possible). Add that to the next group of people whose jobs are going to be replaced by AI and compound that will those that have no skills and are or who will be on welfare. Well good luck to those that are working think taxes at 50% to care for all the people not working. Buying a house good luck! maybe an apt or condo if you are lucky single housing units will be for the well off or those that inherited them.
