Dermatology
Yep I’m a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. Some non-Derms think we spend majority of our time on lasers and injectables, when in fact we do complex medical Derm too and use a ton of biologics and small molecules.
Even though I do way more local flaps than most plastic surgeons, patients still regard plastics as the “better surgeon”. So much so that if the patient mentions the P word, I immediately refer to Plastics because no matter how great of a repair I had done, they will always wonder what it could have been if done by Plastics.
From what I hear, it seems like anything dealing with aesthetics. Which in reality when I actually talk to physicians in it, couldn’t be more happy with the work they are doing. I think it gets a bad wrap from assumptions, and not many give it the respect it also deserves.
That's interesting. So, I'm hearing that it doesn't matter what others think as long as you are happy with the career you choose. I love it! 💪🏼
I've also heard some people undermine the careers and contributions of psychiatrists. I think they are doing important work, but I have met some physicians who believe that psychology shouldn't be regarded the same as *other* medicine.
