Do you know what specialty you would want to change to or is it more just a general lack of fulfillment where you are now? I imagine the patient population you work with is really really tough, and can take a toll. A friend of mine in your position reduced her FTE doing pain and started to spend a chunk of time instead teaching at a med school and loved that. You can and should make a change now if it’s compromising your well-being.
Consider teaching! Start looking at local medical schools or residency programs. You’re probably really good at it and it brings a different kind of fulfillment that helps alleviate the burnout that many of us feel even early in our careers with just straight patient care. Or least a long break to just explore. Despite our brutal training making us think otherwise, you deserve it and don’t have to do the traditional path
