So many people feeling entitled. They don’t realize how good they have it sometimes.
Trusting me with something, then doing it themselves. Telling me to do something a certain way then going back and making changes that create tons more work when all is complete.
Lack of management training. You come in as a low level researcher and they give you more responsibility each year, which is great until you’re managing an entire project and you have zero hard management/project organization skills or knowledge.
Ooh I’ve seen this happen. The person was promoted to director royally screwed up payroll and benefits bc they had no training and only knew how to be an individual contributor.
Herding the cats that are the people whose careers I’m trying to help develop.
Overcommunicating every little thing in a meeting instead of just sending an email. Sometimes a question can just be a teams rather than a 30 minute meeting where you spend 15 minutes just telling me what you did
When people start their conversation with “Happy (insert day)”
My racist bosses
People making a mess in the kitchen or around the coffee pot and not cleaning up
Happy Friday Happy Friday ugh it was funny the first time but now ugh
That management keeps hiring contractors who all end up being absolutely useless and take up more employee time than they save.
People heating up fish in the microwave.
Meetings that could have been emails
When I get projects from a manager that is linear to me, so not even my boss which is fine because it’s part of my job but he talks down to me like I’m 15 and always gives me wild projects with like 2 days ETAs. Wants me to actually move mountains for him. He also never explains things in a detailed way so I waste so much time asking him questions about things he should already have ready for me.
It’s a waste of time and he the main reason I’m trying to find a new team. Annoying!
Poor middle to senior management. People skills are not something that can be taught.
My boss who is unashamedly a drunkard and a narcissist
My boss continues to find creative ways to give me more work without a promotion or raise.
When I ask people to do a task that was due yesterday EOD and they say I’ll get right to it and then I still have to remind them off it 2 hours later
There actually is a study that that is how American dialect works, they say come over anytime you want! And then when you actual show up they ask what are you doing here?
You the Feds?
Not having one 😂
People who are disrespectful of others time. You put a call on for 30 minutes, you get 30 minutes. Don’t schedule meetings at 10 minutes before they’re going to happen without clearing it with everyone that is “necessary,” especially if it’s after normal working hours.
Rising Star
Haha thanks, all good, makes a good laugh. Not my first experience with layoffs. Was able to stick the landing this time 👌🏽
Where do I start? The gross incompetence, listless malaise and wilful ignorance of 80% of the people I work with on a daily basis. What else... No company goals, business that is in the gutter, the toxic culture that gradually grew over the last 4 years when our new President gutted the people he viewed to be a threat. Dissolution of the engaged hustle culture we used to have. I was on vacation for 11 days, and it took 2 hours into my day to remember JUST how bad it is... Yes. I'm looking for another job.
I feel you, and I've been there. If you're thinking about your job 24 hours a day even when you're on vacation, that shows how toxic it is, and it's times to leave
Working for a person who's absent due to any reason whatsoever
I have no control over my 'clients'. I'm an online english tutor, and my company recently took away the tutor's ability to choose available students, so now it's up to chance whether I even have a job :/
September 30th bonuses
Not busy enough. Or at all. It's demoralizing.
You hiring?
