A hot cup of coffee and the NYT Games app. Whenever I hit a wall during the work day, I'll pull out my phone and play Connections, Strands, or Spelling Bee. It keeps my brain active and figuring out the puzzles is always satisfying.
I make sure to take a break in the middle of the afternoon and just distract my mind for five or ten minutes. I'll usually grab a soda and check some news on my phone and just deliberately distract myself. I find that little break as a daily ritual helps me organize my day and keeps me from feeling like I'm spinning my wheels.

A few martinis and then a nap! Kidding. I like to get moving. A walk around the neighborhood or the office (including doing the stairs). Get your blood flowing. I also recommend scheduling the break on your calendar if you live in a meeting heavy corporate world.

I also like getting up from my computer and walking around when I can get away with it. Chocolate or something sweet makes me happy. This isn’t very healthy though. Or the right song coming on my playlist the right time.
